Dave Ramsey is an awesome dude. Ever heard of him? He has a really good story that is totally worth reading. He was a rich man that went poor and then MADE IT. Again. In his about me section he says “Starting from nothing, by the time I was 26 I had a net worth of a little over a million dollars. I was making $250,000 a year—that's more than $20,000 a month net taxable income. I was really having fun. But 98% truth is a lie, and that 2% can cause big problems, especially with $4 million in real estate. I had a lot of debt—a lot of short-term debt—and I'm the idiot who signed up for the trip.” Needless to say he has a really cool story and there Is a lot that you can learn from him and he is more than willing to teach. He then says “After losing everything, I went on a quest to find out how money really works, how I could get control of it and how I could have confidence in handling it. I read everything I could get my hands on. I interviewed older rich people, people who made money and kept it. That quest led me to a really, really uncomfortable place: my mirror. I came to realize that my money problems, worries and shortages largely began and ended with the person in my mirror. I also realized that if I could learn to manage the character I shaved with every morning, I would win with money.”

I spent a few day reading around his website and then I finally decided to buy his books. BEST DECISION EVER. If you know anything about me from my previous reviews and thoughts, you know that I do not like to read books on topics that I am not interested in and furthermore I hate fiction books. I have a huge imagination and I can make my own stories up. I don’t have time for other fake stories so with that being said I love books that I can learn things from and apply to my daily living. Well the book TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER is where I started with my Dave Ramsey Books and I read the book cover to cover in a day and a half. I have a busy, demanding and very tight schedule but this book was well worth the sacrifice of free time here and there to read it from cover to cover. I jumped in head over heels for it. The stories in it of people in debt up to their ears and using the system to become not only debt free but build wealth! It's really cool. I do not want to get too far off on a rabbit trail but…Do you ever listen to podcasts? I am not sure how many people take advantage of them on iTunes but I just started to and one of the ones I am subscribed to is The Dave Ramsey Show. It is a recording of his radio show where you can get some sound financial advice. Listen to people call in and scream out that they are DEBT FREE and even laugh some at Dave's good sense of humor.

When I found out that Dave had written a book for small business people I was stoked. I knew that it would be awesome because he has built an amazing empire from nothing. They say the best people to learn from are the ones that have gone before right? So the book is called EntreLeadership: 20 Years of Practical Business Wisdom from the Trenches Review. Cool name right? The only bad news about the book is that it's not out until September, 20, 2011. I know how you feel. I was the same way. I have mine on pre-order on amazon so I can get it right away. Between this and the book iSteve I will be waiting FOREVER for these books. For being a non reader like I am it feels good to anticipate a book release. The only thing that would make it even better would be to have hand signed copies of these books. Ok now back to reality. I am pumped to read the book and come back ad add to this post with a review of my thoughts on it. Are you a dave fan? What is your story?

;

I just found out that you can pre-order the Steve Jobs Biography on Amazon and if you have not already done so, YOU SHOULD! I have been an apple fan for several years now and it just seems like with every year that passes or every keynote that Steve Jobs attends I become even more of a fan than I was before. I think it’s awesome thatWalter Isaacson is the author because he has written books on amazing people like, Ben Franklin, Einstein and Kissinger. Now to add Jobs to that list is a pretty cool feat. I am huge supporter of Steve Jobs. He literally changed the world with the iPhone. he made it possible for 14 year olds to get rich with their ideas by creating apps. I am honored to be part of the mobile app industry. If you did not already know I created an app called AF Tracker that gives Air Force members a way to calculate their PT Test scores easily and more features to come. Apps are the future and Steve Jobs made that possible. I can remember watching the keynote as he announced the iPhone 3G and feeling such an excitement for the release of the product. I had a countdown set online and everything. (Don’t judge me!,haha) Anyhow without getting carried away if you are an iOS developer or just an Apple Fanboy/girl, this book is for you.

One of the biggest reason I am HUGE fan of Steve Jobs for the simple reason that this man does not let anything stop him or bring him down, if you did not know he suffers from a rare form of cancer. Despite having to go on sick leave he is always at work and always making appearances etc. It’s pretty cool to me that the man behind one of the biggest corporations in America is a motivated and dedicated individual even after he has “made it.” His leadership abilities and style can be summed up in a quote of his from back in 2007. He said, “There's an old Wayne Gretzky quote that I love. 'I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.' And we've always tried to do that at Apple. Since the very very beginning. And we always will.”—Steve Jobs it’s easy to see why he was voted the CEO of the decade by Fortune magazine isn’t it? I find motivation from him. He made it by staying focused and never quitting and that is something that ANYONE can do.

A few interesting Steve Jobs tidbits:

Steve Jobs was fired by the guy whom he hired to run Apple!

At 30, Jobs was fired by John Sculley whom he had hired to run Apple. Jobs went on to found NeXT computers which never tasted success but its technology lives on in the current Macs after Apple bought NeXT and integrated NeXTStep into Mac OS.

Steve Jobs earns less than minimum wage!

Jobs’ annual salary is $1, just enough to keep company health benefits. According to a regulatory filing, Jobs took a salary of $1 in 2010. However, he owns some 5.5 million shares in the company, which are worth some $1.8 billion at the current price of around $333 a share, a rise of more than 50 per cent on the year. He became a millionaire at 25.

Steve Jobs is the single largest shareholder of Disney!

When Disney bought Jobs’ other company Pixar, he also became the single largest individual shareholder of Disney. Apple isn’t his only gig you know! In 1986, Jobs bought the computer division of film director George Lucas' for $10 million. He named the computer animation studio Pixar, and signed a distribution deal with Walt Disney. As the CEO of Pixar animation studios, Jobs promoted computer-generated story telling with movies including Toy Story, Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life and Monster Inc. The movies were a huge success and Jobs decide to take the company Public in 1995. He was back in business.
lion. Job was Disney's largest shareholder and got a seat on their board.

One of my goals is to make it a WWDC (World Wide Developers Conference) before he retires. I am passionate about the mobile app industry and I am excited for its future and I am thankful to be a part of it. I am just a small fish in a HUGE pond and to be able to attend the conference is a dream. It’s a very reachable goal though too. I will keep you informed on my progress. If I have it my way you will hear that I am going to WWDC and hanging out with the greats like:

Gary Bennett- who runs Xcelme- and wrote Objective-C for Absolute Beginners: iPhone and Mac Programming Made Easy – I took this course before the book came out and it gave me a great foundation of the basics in programming with Objective-C. Gary is also a prior United States Navy Serviceman so he gets extra cool point for being a service member in the armed forces. (even if the navy is not as cool as the air force.) All kidding aside he is very skilled and easy to talk to simply, a great teacher! ;)

Dave Mark – The first book I ever read when I gained an interest in iOS development was Learn Cocoa on the Mac

Jeff Lamarche who has written many book on iOS development and a very down to earth dude. I follow him on twitter.

CocoaGeek- I follow him on twitter as well and I learn alot from him. Really cool dude. Know his stuff and very down to earth

Anyhow...

Amazon describes the book like this:

“From bestselling author Walter Isaacson comes the landmark biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. In iSteve: The Book of Jobs, Isaacson provides an extraordinary account of Jobs’ professional and personal life. Drawn from three years of exclusive and unprecedented interviews Isaacson has conducted with Jobs as well as extensive interviews with Jobs’ family members, key colleagues from Apple and its competitors, iSteve is the definitive portrait of the greatest innovator of his generation.”

So, I'm waiting in the Dr.'s office, and I'm in the lobby waiting to be seen. There's quite a few people waiting today. There's a crappy magazine table that probably has a trillion germs all over them. (Yikes!) On the end table closest to me, I see this book: The Soul Support Book by Deb Koffman, so I start thumbing through it. Immediately, I was captivated. I mean, there were some of the most simple messages in such a small book. What a treasure. For example:

Courtesy of Amazon Book Preview

Just a simple drawing but a deep truth. I had an old boss who always used to quote his boss saying: "There's always a better way; you just have to find it." I loved that, and it stuck with me. When I saw this book, specifically this page, I was brought back to this simple truth. Sometimes, we get so caught up in "How things SHOULD be" or "How things HAVE to be", but the truth is very rarley do our big "life's plans" go the way we picture them to be. The important thing is when all else fails, find another way. My favorite quote or life saying says: Success is a journey, not a destination. Who cares if we get stuck somewhere, or we get beaten down along the way. So what if your past is beating you down. You can make it through. You might just have to find another way than the way you originally planned. The great news is THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER WAY!

Below is the press release for my 1st app that hit the iTunes App Store on 23JAN11. This was a milestone for meDEVELOPMENT LLC. I am looking forward to the success of this app and the future apps that I will be releasing.

AF Tracker Helps Air Force Members Get Fit

Physical fitness is a prime concern for those in the Air Force. In 2010, the Air Force instituted a new and more rigorous physical fitness standard. The new AF Tracker app will help all service members track their physical fitness status to make sure they are meeting the requirements based off Air Force Instruction. AF Tracker is also working to provide features to help all Airmen maintain and advance in their careers.

Service member, Julio Medina, through meDEVELOPMENT, LLC, developed AF Tracker. The application is compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It can be obtained, free of charge, in the iTunes App Store. The PT Calculator is a main feature that calculates a physical fitness score based on user-entered information. This feature calculates fitness scores based on the number of push-ups and sit-ups completed and the time required to run 1.5 miles. It also takes into account the age of the user and any medically exempt exercises while including points based off of waist size. The PT Calculator will always be free of charge. Other premium features will be available in the future for a small cost as an in app purchase.

The new physical fitness standards, enacted by the Air Force, represent the most strenuous in over a decade. The changes were made to promote a fitness-based culture that enhances the mission readiness of Airmen. The new fitness program accords a specific percentage to individual fitness tasks. The 1.5-mile run accounts 60% of the total score, body composition accounting for 20%, with push-ups and sit-ups accounting for 10% each.

Five age categories are included in the PT Calculator. They range from less than 30 to age 60 and over. An excellent score is 90 points and above. Scores of 76 to 89 are rated as satisfactory while 75 or less is unsatisfactory. The PT Calculator included in AF Tracker is an ideal tool to help those in the Air Force monitor the various physical tasks required, as well as their scores.

AF Tracker is devoted to providing an upcoming feature that will allow Airmen to enter the due date of their annual PT Test. This feature will send Airmen reminders one month, two weeks and one week prior to their due date. This is especially important, as the Air Force has deemed it the responsibility of each Airmen to know their exact due date. Medina also hopes to include the following features and many more in future updates.
